The Love Island reunion got heated on Sunday night (6 August) and viewers were left in tears as Whitney Adebayo's responded to being reunited with Mehdi Edno.

Mehdi and Whitney were coupled up from the very start of this year's summer series, but after Mehdi was brutally dumped from the villa after receiving the fewest public votes, the 25 year old found love with Lochan Nowacki.

Whitney went on to finish the show in second place alongside Lochan who have since continued their relationship, despite Mehdi sharing he'd wait for her on the outside.

But it all came to blows during the reunion when Whitney provided a "cool" response when asked if there was still a friendship with Mehdi.

Host Maya Jama asked Mehdi: "You said you’d be waiting for her on the outside, does that statement still stand?"

To which he replied: "We’ve switched it up a bit, just because they’re a good match, they’re happy together. I’m happy for them", Whitney replied: "Thanks".

Maya continued and asked: "So have you had any catchups since you’ve been out, any catch-ups or spoken at all?"

"No. Not yet", Mehdi replied and Maya asked: "It’s all good vibes though isn’t it?"

Mehdi said: "From my side it is, yeah."

Whitney wasted no time in sharing exactly how she felt and said: "I don’t care. He’s fine, we’re cool but I feel like when you’re on Love Island you have to speak to everyone, so being coupled up, doesn’t mean you’re coupled up. We had a great time together but it wasn’t a relationship."

"So no friendship at all?", asked Maya to which Whitney responded: "We’re cool. Let’s just leave it at that."

In response, one fan wrote: "I’M CRYING, whitney doesn’t want to be his friend AT ALL."

While another said: "Whitney can’t hide her facial expressions asking her these questions about mehdi", alongside two laughing face emojis.

"Sorry but Whitney’s response to Mehdi was valid. That man put her through HELL", commented another viewer.
