Dumped Love Island star Billy Brown revealed that there was a lot “more flirting” that happened between himself and Gemma Owen that wasn’t aired as he appeared on Capital Breakfast on Tuesday.

Billy, 23, discussed his ongoing chemistry with the Islander, despite her being in a couple with Luca Bish, before he was voted off the show last week.

The former bombshell confessed to there being more to his relationship with Gemma than viewers saw, as he spoke to hosts Roman Kemp, Sian Kelly and Sonny Jay.

Roman said: “You were saying that when you were in Casa Amor, Gemma Owen, who was at the time partnered up with Luca, and they’re still together now, Gemma said something to you…”

Billy replied: “She did…Her first words was ‘pull me for a chat if you want.’”

Sian responded: “Oh! So she initiated it?” Billy confirmed that Gemma did, saying: “Yeah and then I played hard to get and didn’t even pull her for a chat.”

The hosts then laughed along with Billy, as Sian added: “That’s where you went wrong pal!”

Billy had made it clear on the show that he was interested in getting to know Gemma romantically, though she appeared to shut him down on various occasions during his time in the villa.

It seems though that, perhaps, Love Island editors had a hand it making it seem that way — if Billy’s confession is anything to go by — as he continued to say that Gemma was “let off lightly” on the show when it came to her part in their flirting.

Roman asked him: “Do you think, like, there was a lot more that we didn’t see with you and Gemma?”, to which Billy said: “Yeah. Just all the flirting, you haven’t seen it all, they let her off lightly!”

Sian asked Billy if, considering his time cut short on the show, he would change his tactics in trying to pursue Gemma.

Billy responded: “Nah! Definitely not. I think maybe, pull [Gemma] for a chat at the start maybe.”

When asked what he thinks his chances with Gemma compared to Luca would have been if he'd gone in the villa earlier, Billy said there would have been no competition, as he added: "Oh yeah game over."

Sian then asked: “Are you going to pull her for a chat when she comes out?” To that, Billy didn’t seem keen at all the idea, as he replied: “Nah! Don’t start all that!”

Listen to Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp, weekdays from 6am – 10am across the UK and on Global Player.
