The Queen is preparing for summer vacation with the royal family in Balmoral (their fancy Scottish castle, naturally), and apparently sources don’t think the Sussexes will make it.

The Sun was the first to report that the Queen had extended an invite to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry as an olive branch, with a source saying that “Staff have been told to expect the full list of royals including Harry, Meghan and their children Archie and Lilibet. They are preparing for the Sussexes.”

Sounds great, especially since another source points out that “Balmoral is the perfect place for them to spend a little bit of quality time with the Queen” and notes that “They barely had 15 minutes with her at the jubilee.”

The thing is, the rest of the royal family are also going to be at Balmoral, and considering the vibes between them and the Sussexes are still somewhat tense, another royal source said “I would be stunned if they did turn up.”

Before you ask, yes, Prince William and Kate Middleton would likely be at Balmoral at the same time as Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan—though the Cambridges have a few other vacation plans this summer. Royal expert Ingrid Seward recently told The Sun, “They usually go up to Balmoral to spend time with the Queen and the rest of the family for a while and, this year, I think they will also go abroad for a short time, probably to Mustique, because William and Kate will want a change of scenery.”

“The Queen loves being in Balmoral,” Ingrid continued. “William has a house in the grounds, Tam Na Ghar, which was a gift to him and Harry from the Queen Mother and is down a deer track from Prince Charles’ Birkhall home… Balmoral is absolute paradise for children.”

Here’s to hoping Archie and Lilibet have a chance to visit!
