Olivia Newton-John died earlier this month aged just 73, after three traumatic battles with breast cancer. Since then, her 36-year-old daughter Chloe Lattanzi has taken to Instagram to reveal how she is coping with the loss.

In view of her 150,000 followers, she posted a quote by Dr Who writer Jamie Anderson, who summed up the experience of bereavement.

“Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give but cannot,” she quoted.

“All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump of your throat, and the hollow part of your chest. “

Finally, the quote added: “Grief is just love with no place to go.”

Chloe, an actor and singer in her own right, has thrown herself wholeheartedly into following her mum’s footsteps in showbiz.

However, even a busy work schedule is not giving her respite from her understandable grief.

The Los Angeles-based star had shared a photo of herself with her mum earlier in the month.

Published just three days before the tragic death of the Grease actress, it read: “I worship this woman. My mother. My best friend.”

Australian-born Olivia was originally diagnosed with breast cancer 30 years ago, but underwent a partial mastectomy to keep the disease at bay.

After years in remission, her cancer then returned in 2013, and finally for a third time in 2018.

However, she told US Weekly magazine at the time that she’d been thinking positively.

“If you think dark thoughts, you’re going to create a dark world,” she insisted, adding that she was trying to find the “silver lining” in her suffering.

When she tragically died, Chloe described her mum as her “lighthouse”, honouring her ability to stay positive, even in a storm.

“You are an angel on earth and everyone touched by you has been blessed,” she wrote.

“I love you forever my life giver, my teacher, my mama.”

Meanwhile her father Matt, who was married to Olivia for almost a decade, also honoured his ex-partner as “one of the world’s greats”.

“Nothing will replace the icon we lost,” he acknowledged in a tender Instagram post.

“Yet her legacy is alive and well in our hearts and memories, as well as her contributions to our global culture, her beloved daughter Chloe Lattanzi, and her cancer research and wellness center in Melbourne.”

Olivia had campaigned for cancer research ever since her diagnosis in 1992.

The centre she created has housed clinical trials and inpatient wards, dedicated to advancing scientific research.
