‘Why aren’t you asleep yet?’ Ozzy Osbourne says doctors gave him FOUR TIMES the normal anaesthetic dose during the height of his drug use

  • The singer, 73, has been plagued with a series of health issues over the years, starting with a near-fatal bike accident in 2003, which broke his neck vertebra
  • Then, in early 2019, he took a spill and dislodged metal rods that had been placed in his back from the previous bike accident
  • The rock star was also diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2019
  • He was forced to call of his European tour that same year after the flu and bronchitis caused him to be admitted to intensive care
  • Ozzy most recently underwent ‘major surgery’ on his back, in June 2022

Ozzy Osbourne has revealed that doctors had to give him four times the normal dose of anaesthetic during the height of his drug use.

The Black Sabbath star, 73, recalled the moment a doctor questioned why he ‘wasn’t asleep yet’ when administering the drug before he underwent an operation.

Despite saying how he now lives a much quieter life, the rockstar has been plagued with health issues over the years, from a near-fatal bike accident in 2003 to a Parkinson’s disease diagnosis in 2019 and major surgery on his back last month.

Speaking to Sirius XM in an interview obtained by The Mirror, Ozzy began: ‘I had a procedure when I was doing all this s***.

‘The guy putting the stuff in goes, “how long have you been doing this music?” And I said so many years, and kept talking. And he goes, “Why aren’t you asleep yet?”

He went on to explain that doctors administered four times the usual amount of anaesthetic to send him to sleep, due to his high tolerance levels, but added that his ‘wild days’ are now over.

‘The thing that keeps me away from it [drugs] now is I got real with me. One of the main reasons I have embraced my family is because I am not out of my ****ing face any more,’ he said.

Health woes: It comes as his wife Sharon revealed that Ozzy was ‘on the road to recovery’ after undergoing ‘major’ spinal surgery last week

The former X Factor judge, 69, claimed the singer, was ‘doing well’ after he underwent a major procedure that could ‘determine the rest of his life’

A family source recently told Page Six at the time that Ozzy was going to go through a ‘lengthy amount of convalescence’ that would likely require a home nurse for some time.

The No More Tears hitmaker’s operation comes after the musician previously suffered a nasty fall and dislodged metal rods placed in his spine following a quad-bike accident in 2003.

Ouch: In 2003, Ozzy was seriously injured in a quad-bike accident, which resulted in him breaking his neck vertebra, collarbone, and six ribs (Pictured in 2003 with Sharon)

They added: ‘Ozzy is 73 and any kind of surgery when you get older is difficult,’ they added. ‘This is quite major. He’s having the pins in his neck and back realigned from when he had a fall back in 2019.’

‘I went to the bathroom in the night, lost my balance and landed flat on my face,’ he previously recalled to DailyMail.com.

‘I saw this big white flash when I hit the floor and I thought, “You’ve finally done it now.”

In 2019, Ozzy suffered from a ‘bad fall’ in his home which dislodged metal rods which were placed in his spine following his previous bike accident (On stage in late 2019)

He continued: ‘I knew it was bad, I thought I was paralyzed, so very calmly I said, “Sharon, I can’t move. I think I’ve done my neck. Phone an ambulance.”

Ozzy also needed emergency surgery in 2018, after he developed a serious infection in his thumb that could have killed him if it went untreated, and had to be put on a ventilator in 2019 due to complications from the flu and bronchitis.

He revealed in January 2020 that he had been diagnosed with Parkin 2 in 2019- a form of Parkinson’s which he said is the cause of nerve pain and leaves his legs cold.
