Paddy McGuinness ‘struggling’ as ex Christine ‘lives separate life’ after shock split

Paddy McGuinness announced he and Christine McGuinness were separating in July last year – and after opening up about experiencing homesickness, the Top Gear star is said to be "struggling".

The 49 year old previously discussed being away from his family, as he continues to live with his estranged partner, 35, and their three children – Penelope and Leo, nine, and Felicity, seven.

And now a source has told OK! that the aftermath of the split is "hitting Paddy hard", with Christine being busy with her career projects.

"Paddy has been reaching out to people after the split because he is struggling. Christine and Paddy both have very separate lives now," they said.

"Christine has so much work on, she has documentaries, but Paddy is less busy and he is struggling with it."

Two weeks ago, Paddy openly said on Instagram he is "very proud" of Christine for her new documentary, Unmasking My Autism.

"Very proud of Christine for making this new documentary highlighting Autism, particularly in women. It’ll be a massive help to our daughters in years to come along with our little lad. #unmaskingmyautism #awareness #acceptence," he wrote.

After Paddy and Christine made the joint decision to continue to live together for the sake of their children, the source added that their arrangement may not last much longer.

"They will have to come up with a way to go forward and sell the house eventually," they said.

"They will be going their separate ways properly soon. They both love their kids, and they are the priority in this. But it is hitting Paddy hard right now," the source continued.

OK! approached Paddy's representative for comment.

Paddy previously opened up on experiencing homesickness whenever he is away from his family with work.

"I've always had a sort of rule what I stick by where I never do more than nine days anywhere because I just like being at home," Paddy revealed.

"I think naturally you get homesick."

Christine and Paddy have been open about their co-parenting dynamic in their household, with Christine recently saying on Heart FM's No Filter: "We’re not actually like any other family I know."

The presenter continued: "I love the way we are, I try not to compare myself to any other family because we're actually not like any other family that I know.

"I'm comfortable and I embrace our family the way we are, and I love our differences."
