Paris Hilton has revealed that she had an abortion in her early 20s as she “wasn’t ready” to be a mum.

The 42 year old welcomed her first child, a baby boy called Phoenix, with her husband Carter Reum, also 42, in January, havingrecently revealed the first photos of their newbornon social media.

Although Paris seems to be enjoying her life as a new mum now, there was a time in her life when she didn’t feel ready for parenthood and has opened up on terminating a pregnancy in her early twenties.

In a new interview, the star admits she was nervous to talk about her abortion previously due to the “shame”, but has found herself eager to speak out following the recent restriction of abortion rights in the US.

“This was also something that I didn’t want to talk about because there was so much shame around that,” she told Glamour UK about terminating a pregnancy in her early 20s.

“I was a kid and I was not ready for that.”

The star added that last year’s repeal by the Supreme Court of Roe V. Wade made her more eager to share her past experiences and speak out about women’s rights.

She added: “It’s your body, your choice and I really believe in that. It’s mind-boggling to me that they’re making laws about what you do with your reproductive health, because if it were the other way around with the guys, it would not be this way at all.”

Earlier this week, Paris took to Instagram to officially introduce her first child to the world, sharing two adorable photographs of Phoenix, who her and her husband welcomed via surrogate.

"Baby Phoenix. Our whole entire world," Paris wrote alongside a blue heart emoji as fans flocked to gush over the photos online.

In one photo, the mum-of-one can be seen holding her newborn son on her shoulder while husband Carter, who recently threw Paris a surprise 'low-key' birthday party, plants a kiss on her forehead.

The new mum sported a glam make-up look and wore her blonde locks styled in bouncy curls for the photoshoot, while Carter wore a casual navy blue jumper.

A second photo showed Paris holding baby Phoenix in her arms and kissing his nose. The newborn wore a white sleep suit and matching hat which featured blue piping, and the heiress modelled a white satin dressing gown complete with lace detailing.

Paris' celeb pals rushed to comment on the photos, with Demi Lovato saying: "So precious," while Michelle Visage added: "Heaven".

Ashlee Simpson commented: "So beautiful congratulations," and Winnie Harlow left two teary-eyed emojis and a red heart under the post.
