Pregnant Gemma Atkinson shares how her colleagues worked out she was pregnant

Appearing on Steph's Packed Lunch, TV and radio presenter Gemma Atkinson opened up to host Steph McGovern about her pregnancy, and how her co-workers worked it out.

Gemma, who is expecting her second child with Strictly Come Dancing pro Gorka Márquez, discussed her morning sickness with Steph, revealing that she was surprised to experience it as she had not had it with her previous pregnancy.

The morning sickness came prior to Gemma realising she was pregnant, as she revealed the nausea was part of the reason she chose to take a test.

After discovering she was pregnant, it was still a while before Gemma and Gorka revealed the news, however by the time they shared the announcement some of Gemma's co-workers had already figured it out.

She told host Steph: "The radio have been great, and it was actually my producer, Mark, he just asked me outright, he said 'are you pregnant?' And I said 'why?'

"He said 'I've never seen you eat so many crisps. You don't eat crisps' and literally just under the desk at work I was eating crisps."

Discussing how her co-workers have been great during her pregnancy, Gemma added: "They just used to put a little bin next to my seat in the studio because everyone knew and then I'd be like 'just give me a minute, give me a minute. I need to just…'"

Gemma announced her pregnancy in January as she posted a series of sweet pictures showing off her baby bump.

Gemma added in the caption: "Impossible to hide my belly any longer. I’ve officially 'popped.' Our baby boy will be joining our family later this year."

She continued: "We feel so incredibly blessed and Grateful to be on this journey again. Mia is absolutely thrilled! Although we may need to do some negotiating on names, as so far she’s adamant he’s going to be called Barbie."

In the wake of sharing her baby news, Gemma admitted that she feels “very lucky”.

In an Instagram story a few hours after announcing the pregnancy, Gemma sweetly thanked everyone for their “lovely” messages, as she cheekily admitted she was “fully prepared for the chaos” of welcoming a little boy into their family.

She said: “Thank you everyone for all your lovely messages and well-wishes. It’s lovely! Number two! Number two and a little boy. Crikey, a little boy. How lucky. Very, very lucky. But yeah, prepared for chaos!”

Gemma and Gorka first hit it off after a group rehearsal during Strictly for the 15th series of the show. They confirmed the news of their romance months later, with an image of Gemma snuggled into Gorka's face.

Shortly after this, the star spoke on their relationship on Key 103’s breakfast show and insisted that while she was competing on Strictly Come Dancing they were “genuinely” not together because they just saw one another at “the weekends”.

She went on to share that it was only when the Strictly tour began that they “saw each other all the time and we thought, ‘Oh, okay this could work,’ and it did and it does so far!”
