Prince Harry is said to have called his father, King Charles, on his 75th birthday, which is thought to be a "turning point" in their relationship.

Tensions between Prince Harry, 39, his wife Meghan Markle, 42, and the rest of the Royal Family, have reached fever pitch over the past few years, after Harry and Meghan left the Firm in 2020 and moved to the US.

Since the move, they have levelled a number of jibes and accusations at Harry's family, including in an interview with US chat show host Oprah in 2021, and Harry's explosive memoir, Spare, which came out in January 2023.

But it seems that those tensions could be thawing with Prince Harry's phone call to his father, where Meghan is also said to have spoken to the King.

The Telegraph reports that the lengthy conversation between Prince Harry and King Charles ended with an agreement to speak again soon.

The publication also revealed that King Charles' grandchildren – Harry and Meghan's offspring – Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet, two, were recorded singing 'Happy Birthday' to the monarch.

OK! has contacted Buckingham Palace and Prince Harry's reps for comment.

The King joined close friends for a birthday dinner at Clarence House on Tuesday night, with his eldest son, Prince William, and his wife, Kate Middleton, in attendance.

The Prince and Princess of Wales sent a special birthday message to King Charles via social media as he celebrated his landmark 75th birthday on November 14.

The post was shared with the couple's 14.9 million followers and contains three images of the monarch over the years, with a caption reading: "Wishing His Majesty The King a very happy 75th birthday!"

The first photo shows Charles posing for a photograph with Prince William during a skiing trip to Klosters in 2004 – the same trip where he was first introduced to his future daughter-in-law.

Meanwhile, the second is a solo image of the monarch taking part in an oak tree planting during his state visit to France earlier this year and the third is from Trooping the Colour back in June as the family gathered on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

The post was instantly flooded with messages from well wishers reciprocating the birthday message to the King.

Many of the royals – bar Prince Harry and Meghan Markle – turned out to celebrate the King's birthday as they attended a special party at Clarence House.

Kate Middleton was driven to the venue by Prince William, whilst William's cousin Zara Tindall arrived hand-in-hand with her husband, Mike Tindall.

Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie were all smiles as they pulled up to the event and waved to onlookers.

In Harry's memoir, Spare, he suggested that Charles was always somewhat distant and they were never really close. He said that the King was never good "at showing emotions" and even claimed that he didn't hug him after telling him about his mother, Princess Diana's car accident.

In his book, Harry wrote: "He wasn't great at showing emotions under normal circumstances, how could he be expected to show them in such a crisis? But his hand did fall once more on my knee and he said: 'It's going to be OK.' That was quite a lot for him. Fatherly, hopeful, kind. And so very untrue."

He also claimed that while growing up, his father would write him letters of praise instead of complimenting him to his face. Prince Harry also claimed that his father stopped taking his calls after he stepped down as a senior working royal at the start of 2020.
