R. Kelly was recently transferred back to the federal jail in downtown Chicago ahead of his trial on charges related to child pornography and obstruction of justice.

The Bureau of Prisons confirmed Kelly has been transferred to the Metropolitan Correctional Center.

The federal charges against Kelly in Chicago accuse him of videotaping himself having sex with underage girls and paying hush money and intimidating witnesses to cover up his crimes and rig his 2008 child pornography case in Cook County.

The charges also included a bribery scheme involving a public official to get a fake ID for Aaliyah so the two could get married when she was 15.

Kelly, who was indicted in 2002 in Illinois state court on 21 counts of child pornography, was acquitted six years later by a jury.

Jury selection for his federal trial in Chicago is set to begin August 15.

According to federal prosecutors, Kelly and two co-defendants fixed that state trial, with Kelly reportedly arranging for a girl and her parents to travel overseas to prevent them from talking with police prior to his 2002 indictment and later instructed them to lie to a grand jury about the case.

Last month, the disgraced R&B star was sentenced in New York to 30 years in prison for racketeering and sex trafficking.
