Ricky Gervais' beloved cat Ollie dies aged 16

Ricky Gervais’s beloved Siamese cat Ollie has died after a period of poor health.

The Office star had to say goodbye to Ollie after having her for nearly 17 years.

Taking to Twitter to share the awful news, Ricky said: ‘Just had to say goodbye to the sweetest little soul I’ve ever known.

‘RIP Ollie July 9th 2003 – March 10th 2020.’

Along with the tweet, Ricky posted two photos of Ollie – one with her sleeping and one with her angrily meowing.

His partner Jane Fallon also tweeted the sad news, alongside four pictures of Ollie playing at home.

‘I have awful news,’ she started. ‘My smart, funny, feisty, beautiful sidekick of the last 16 & a half years @myleftfang has passed away after a sudden downturn in her health at the weekend,’ she wrote.

‘My heart is broken in two. I have no idea what I’m going to do without her by my side. #Ollie.’

Ricky received Ollie as a surprise gift from Jonathan Ross in 2003 and was named after Ricky’s comedy hero Oliver Hardy.

‘You & Jane have my sincerest condolences,’ a person wrote. ‘Through you, Ollie brought good, kind people together to help sad animals everywhere. I’ll miss making her little outfits & her crazy antics. RIP #Ollie- for a cat who never left the house, you’re going to be missed by thousands.’
