The Royal Family will pay their respects to those who lost their lives in the First and Second World War this weekend as a two-minute silence will take place across the country

This weekend, the Royal Family will make a number of public appearances as they remember those who have fallen in war. The Princess Royal will begin proceedings at the Armistice Day Service of Remembrance with readings, musical performances and wreath laying.

Later in the evening, King Charles and Queen Camilla will head to the Royal Albert Hall to attend the Festival of Remembrance.

Clare Balding hosts the evening which will feature performances from popstar Calum Scott, Chelsea Pensioner Colin Thackery, Festival favourite Alfie Boe, and singer songwriter Katie Melua.

The Band of HM Royal Marines and The Band of The Royal Airforce Regiment will create awe inspiring displays of military music.

This year’s event will commemorate the significant anniversaries of two crucial historical battles. It is eighty years since The Battle of the Atlantic, the longest military campaign of World War II and the seventieth anniversary of the Korean War in which many national servicemen fought and died, with veterans from both wars present in the Hall.

On Remembrance Sunday, the Royal Family will gather at The Cenotaph for a two-minute silence and the King will lead the nation in the National Service of Remembrance.

His Majesty will be joined by senior members of the Royal Family and leading UK politicians, alongside representatives of the Armed Forces, Commonwealth nations, and faith communities for the morning’s commemorations

Princess Royal leads Armistice Day Service of Remembrance

Princess Anne will attend the Armed Forces Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire along with senior representatives of the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defence.

The service will include an act of Remembrance, readings, musical performances and wreath laying.

A two-minute silence will be observed across the arboretum at 11am.

It is a ticketed service and members of the public will be able to view the service on a large screen in Heroes' Square.
