Rylan Clark 'walked off' the set of ITV's This Morning, after his co-presenter Ruth Langsford played a prank on him.

Monday's show began with a video clip that Rylan, 33, had posted to Instagram on August 14 when a garden snake had gotten into his house.

The hilarious video features running commentary from a hysterical Rylan who is scared that the snake might bite him.

There was many mentions of the slithery reptiles on the show, as an expert confirmed to Rylan that it was a harmless grass snake, before a Britney Spears-style python was brought into the studio.

As if that wasn't enough, later on in a different segment, Ruth, 62, played a prank on her friend as she threw a toy snake at him, causing him to jump out of his seat in shock.

After nearly screaming the set down and visibly trying not to swear, Rylan exclaimed to Ruth: "That was really close! Did you not…"

"Barry in my ear, you know,

"See if I had my old set of teeth…" he added.

He then pointed to the This Morning crew behind the cameras and revealed that he'd warned them against surprising him, as he'd got used to using a lot of swear words, five years on from his presenting gig on the show.

Rylan said: "I sat you all down this morning and I said 'Do not do it on air because the words that's my new default is not daytime'."

Ruth responded: "Oh I know I was worried about that but I thought 'I'm going to go for it anyway'."

Rylan then said: "Can you read this while I go and have a small stroke over in the corner,"

As Ruth began introducing Phil Vickery cooking on a beach in Grenada, Rylan said: "Good for him, I'm out," before walking off set.

Viewers of This Morning are thrilled at the return of Rylan and Ruth, after Rylan quit the show in 2017, and Ruth and her co-presenting husband Eamonn left earlier this year.

They are currently two of many guest presenters filling in for regular presenters Holly Willoughby, Phillip Schofield, Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary as they take an extended break.

Many people took to Twitter to praise Rylan and Ruth's presenting skills, with one person writing: "The best TV presenters by a million miles, loving Ruth and Rylan they are just so natural and not false."

Another tweeted: Ruth & Rylan you 2 are the best and have really made me smile today , please stay on this morning .. it’s time for a change".

A third person said: "Love Rylan and Ruth. best week so far! #thismorning," while a third echoed: "Wow this is fantastic. Rylan and Ruth are on !!!!! Have them on again Pleassseeeeee."
