Gaten Matarazzo has officially returned to Broadway!

The 19-year-old Stranger Things star performed his first show in Dear Evan Hansen on Tuesday (July 19) at the Music Box Theatre.

Gaten will be playing Jared Kleinman in the hit Broadway musical, which will be closing this September.

In the audience at his opening night, Gaten‘s Stranger Things co-stars Maya Hawke and Sadie Sink showed their support. His girlfriend Elizabeth Yu was also in attendance!

“Go see [Gaten] Be just about the most delightful creature to grace the stage,” Maya shared on her Instagram story.

“They surprised him, which was super cute!” a source told People. “Maya and Sadie loved the show.”

“Stranger Things fans turned up for Gaten‘s first performance,” the insider added. “He got huge entrance applause. And there were tons of fans outside at the stage door. It was mobbed!”

This is Gaten‘s first time in Broadway since 2014, when he was in the cast of the revival of Les Misérables.
