Selena Gomez performs Wolves at AMA 2017

Actress Francia Raisa has denied she was ever “forced” to give Selena Gomez, 31, her kidney.

The actress kindly donated her organ during the singer’s heartbreaking battle with Lupus in 2017.

At the time, she faced complications from the autoimmune disease and had to undergo chemotherapy.

Due to lupus-related organ damage, she also needed a kidney transplant.

In a new interview, Francia spoke about her kind gesture following claims she was “forced” to undergo the procedure.

She said: “I’ve said this before, but that was a time where I just felt it in my heart.

“I knew I was a match. I knew it was going to happen.”

She went on to emphasise that it was solely her decision to put forward the idea and go ahead with the transplant.

“No one forced me to do anything,” the actress clarified on the Good Guys podcast.

“It came out of the genuine kindness of my heart, and I’ve been super blessed ever since.”

The 35-year-old met Selena when they were both patients in hospital back in 2007.

Fast forward the years and Francia didn’t hesitate to help Selena when she needed a match urgently.

The actress got tested just three days after learning the news and once she was told she could help, the procedure went ahead.

The Calm Down hitmaker has always expressed her gratitude for Francia’s good will.

Back in March while speaking on Apple TV Plus’s documentary series Dear, the singer refelcted on the “unbelievably overwhelming” process.

She went on to say she was “so so lucky” to have such a “best friend” who was willing to do such a thing.

“I’ll never ever, ever be more in debt to a person than Francia,” she added.

In her latest interview, The How I Met Your Father star also took the opportunity to shut down claims they had fallen out.

Additionally, Disney Channel alum Selena indirectly slammed the rumours in an Instagram post last month.

In a heartfelt post, she shared various snaps of the pair as she wished her a Happy Birthday.

In view of her 427 million followers, she wrote: “Happiest of birthdays to this special human being.

“No matter where life takes us, I love you. @franciaraisa.”
