Soundgarden's Matt Cameron Says Final Chris Cornell Songs 'On Hold'

In a recent appearance on the “Vinyl Guide” podcast, Soundgarden drummer Matt Cameron said the outlook for Chris Cornell‘s final songs remains murky.

Although it was said earlier that Soundgarden’s dispute with Cornell’s estate was settled amicably, Cameron explained during the podcast that Soundgarden is still in the middle of a dispute with the estate. “Everything is on hold right now,” he said.

Cameron, who did not go into detail about the ongoing dispute, just said he had to “tread lightly” around the subject. However, he admitted that he didn’t expect the Cornell material to be released in 2024.

“As of right now, it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen next year,” Cameron noted. “Hopefully soon. I’m not giving up hope.”

In April this year, Soundgarden and Cornell’s widow, Vicky, released a joint statement, announcing “an amicable out-of-court resolution.”

At the time, they noted the agreement would “allow Soundgarden fans around the world to hear the final songs that the band and Chris were working on.”
