Strictlys Zara McDermott on moment ‘it all went wrong before she was voted off

Strictly: Zara McDermott is eliminated from the show

Zara McDermott has shared the moment she realised “it all went wrong” before she was eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing.

The former Made in Chelsea star was evicted from the BBC dance competition last weekend after failing to avoid the dance-off for a third time.

Speaking about her exit, Zara appeared on the podcast Staying Relevant with Pete Wicks to describe her final week on the show.

“It was Halloween week and it was a big milestone in the Strictly series,” she recalled.

“I was being painted as a skeleton at a spa, which was a strange concept.”

Host Pete Wicks then quipped: “Do you think that’s where it started to go wrong? People didn’t understand what you were doing?”

Zara laughed and replied: “You know, I thought that initially.

“But then with all the visual effects – they put a swimming pool projection on the set for people watching at home, which I thought was really cool.”

Pete then interupted: “Do you think if you concentrated more on the dance and less on the swimming pool then maybe you would’ve stayed in?”

Zara then then: “Do you know what Pete, I did my bl***y best. I did my best.”

The former Love Island contestant was partnered with Graziano Di Prima and had no prior dance experience.

She found herself in the dance-off for a third time and faced off against Waterloo Road star Adam Thomas.

However, Adam was unanimously saved by the judges and they sent Zara home.

Meanwhile, West End actor Layton Williams has been criticised by Strictly over his history of dance experience.

In September, EastEnders actress Michelle Collins claimed that it is “not fair” to have Layton on the show.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturdays and Sundays on BBC One.
