Taylor Swift’s show in Rio de Janeiro ended in tragedy as 23-year-old Ana Clara Benevides is said to have died of a cardiac arrest.

The Friday night concert was the first of three shows during the final leg of her 2023 Era’s Tour, which kicked off as the city came under a heat warning.

According to Brazillian media, Ana and her cousin Estela Benevides were among 61,000 concertgoers at the Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos in Rio.

It was reported that after fainting, Ana was transported to the Salgado Filho Municipal Hospital, where doctors at the scene were unable to revive her.

It’s believed Estela was informed, that her cousin had died as a result of “cardiorespiratory arrest.”

As the heat soared to a sweltering 100 degrees, a concerned Taylor stopped the show after fans chanted “water.”

Addressing the crew, the singer pointed out the dehydrated concertgoers and added: “Sorry it’s just very hot so when somebody says they need water and it’s this hot they really need it.”

This continued later in the show, as the songstress performed Call It What You Want, she walked across the stage to pick up a bottle of water and threw it into the crowd.

Shortly after the show came to an end, Taylor addressed Ana’s death and paid tribute to the fan on social media.

The 33-year-old wrote: “I can’t believe I’m writing these words, but it is with her shattered heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show. I can’t even tell you how devastated I am by this.

“There’s very little information I have other than the fact that she was so incredibly beautiful and far too young.”

Taylor continued: “I’m not going to be able to speak about this from the stage because I feel overwhelmed by grief when I even try to talk about it.

“I want to say now I feel this loss deeply, and my broken heart goes out to her family and friends.

“This is the last thing I ever thought would happen when we decided to bring this tour to Brazil.”
