Tess Daly and Vernon Kay have left fans excited and emotional as they celebrated a major milestone.

Strictly host Tess marked her husband’s 100th show anniversary at Radio 2 by making a sweet gesture to him on Instagram.

The 54-year-old shared a rare snap of them out together at a swanky bar enjoying what appeared to be a date night.

Smiling broadly, she looked stunning in a one shoulder black dress, while her husband, 49, looked pleased seated alongside her looking smart as he matched in black. She captioned the snap shared with her 840,000 Instagram followers: “Congrats on 100 shows to @vernonkay @bbcradio2.”

Fans were quick to share their congratulations, with one writing: “I nearly cried when you all did your congratulations on the radio… Definitely filled Ken’s shoes and more!”

Another wrote: “I love how emotional Vernon became after hearing his dad.” A third commented: “He’s the best. Makes my mornings at work a joy.”

While a fourth said: “Well done @vernonkay I wasn’t convinced when you took over, but you’re doing a fantastic job. Keep it up.”

Vernon, who seemed to choke up when his father called into Wednesday’s show to congratulate him on the achievement, had faced criticism when he was announced as the new host of BBC Radio 2’s mid-morning show, replacing veteran host Ken Bruce.

The presenter began his show in May this year and proved critics wrong.

The milestone comes shortly after he and Tess celebrated their 20 year wedding anniversary.

To mark the momentous occasion which happened last month, Tess also took to Instagram to pay tribute to her husband.

She shared four photos of the pair together, including throwback images of their wedding and them celebrating their special day with flowers and cake.

Captioning the post, Tess said: “Cannot believe it’s 20 years ago today! Always @vernonkay.”

The Strictly presenter and her beau share two daughters Phoebe, 19, and Amber, 13.
