EMILY PRESCOTT: Tickets to summit featuring Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in Manchester cost £1,000 PER DAY
It aims to bring together the ‘brightest young leaders from every country and sector’ with the lofty ambition to ‘confront the biggest challenges facing humanity’.
And next month participants at the One Young World summit in Manchester will be joined in their earnest work by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
But sharing a conference centre with them doesn’t come cheap – bright young delegates will have to fork out £1,000-a day to attend the three-day event, and that doesn’t include the cost of travelling to Manchester or accommodation.
Those attending the conference for the first time and hoping to bag a ticket, including private accommodation, will have to spend £4,210.
Conference organisers point out that Harry and Meghan won’t be paid and that 30 per cent of young people will attend on a scholarship.
Meghan has been an ambassador for One Young World since 2014, and is due to give the keynote address at this year’s opening ceremony in Bridgewater Hall before she and Harry participate in a round-table debate about equality.

Another issue due to be discussed at this year’s summit is how ‘economic insecurity’ affects faith in leaders; something that seems rather ironic given the summit is charging such eye-watering fees.
Meghan has praised the One Young World delegates for speaking out against ‘human rights violations, environmental crises, gender equality issues, discrimination and injustice’.
And she has explained: ‘When I was asked to be a Counsellor at One Young World my response was a resounding: Yes! One Young World invites young adults from all over the world who are actively working to transform the socio-political landscape by being the greater good.’
Other speakers at the summit include Sir Bob Geldof and Little Mix singer Leigh-Anne Pinnock.
Delegates either attend the summit through a partner organisation such as a university, or can attend independently.
Those without support from an organisation can apply for a scholarship. Most of the delegates are aged 18 to 30.
The One Young World website says: ‘Delegates participate in speeches, panel discussions and workshops about how, together and individually, we can take action to create a better world.’
But only, it seems, if you can afford it.
Royal florist Willow Crossley’s husband Charlie is risking the wrath of neighbours at his pub The Bull in Charlbury, Oxfordshire.
They’ve complained his music nights are ‘heavy and disturbing’ – and forced him to cancel one.
But now he’s been granted a licence to use amplifiers! Willow flowered-up Harry and Meghan’s wedding.
