Blue Ivy Carter’s grandmother Tina Knowles-Lawson wants to make sure her granddaughter knows just how much she’s loved. Beyoncé and JAY-Z’s eldest child turned 11 on Jan. 7, and Knowles-Lawson celebrated her special day with a loving tribute and a throwback photo of Blue Ivy from 2022 that shows just how much she’s grown.
In the photo, Knowles-Lawson and Blue Ivy are standing on the beach. While her grandmother is barefoot, the now 11-year-old is sporting sneakers, a blazer, and white pants. The proud grandma has her arm around her granddaughter’s waist as they both smile for the camera.
Knowles-Lawson kicked off her tribute by sharing just how much she wanted her first granddaughter to share her Jan. 4 birthday. “The day that you were born was one of the best days of my life. I was really praying and pushing your mom to have you on January 4 which is my birthday,” she wrote. “I really wanted you to share my birthday, but like your auntie Solo you decided to come when you were good and damn ready and that was on January 7 three days after my birthday.”
She continued, “Knowing you and your personality now, I realize that you needed your own day because you were such a queen and you are so very special! You can sing dance, play basketball, play, volleyball, paint draw, sculpt, sew, write poetry, write songs , , create, act , play the piano ! I could go on and on. Because there’s really nothing that you can’t do.”
The producer isn’t just being a proud grandmother, either. Blue Ivy became a Grammy winner at the age of 9 thanks to her contributions to Beyoncé’s “Brown Skin Girl.”
“You are funny and beautiful and graceful, Kind, and so smart,” Knowles-Lawson added. “I could not ask for a better granddaughter Ms. Blue Ivy Carter! I could not be more blessed, grateful, and completely in love with another human. You truly bring me joy!!”
