Tom Parker’s widow Kelsey to film six-part documentary on life after his death

Kelsey Parker, the widow of The Wanted singer Tom Parker, has shared she is filming a six-part documentary on life after her husband's death.

Tom died earlier this year at the age of 33 from glioblastoma brain cancer and Kelsey, 32, who is mother to their two children Aurelia, three, and Bodhi, two, took to her Instagram on Wednesday (October 5) to share details about the upcoming series and admitted that things have at times been "very difficult".

She dedicated the six-part programme to her late husband Tom and said: "Tom called us the Positive Parkers and I really hope our optimism shines through because life is for living and we're here, we're doing it and I just want to keep moving forward."

She added to her 358,000 followers: "Thank you so much for all your support, it really does mean the world to us. Every word of encouragement, every NTA vote, every person who tells us we got this… you push us forward."

She continued: "I don't know where I'd be right now without all of you and everyone who has believed in me. Working with @aheadofthegame_foundation , filming with @flickerproductions @itv and my incredible management team @screativeagency it's giving me a purpose, a future, a reason for being and I'm so grateful."

She then refers to her children in the post saying: "Oh and watch out for the superstars of the show @aureliaroseparker and @bodhithomasparker who will bring all the joy! They make me so proud and I know @Tomparkerofficial will be shining bright watching them entertain you all."

The ITVBe docu-series called, Kelsey Parker: Life After Tom, will be an unflinching look at the reality of bereavement and is being made by the people behind award-winning ITV documentary Kate Garraway: Finding Derek and critically acclaimed follow-up Caring for Derek.

Through Kelsey’s very personal story, she will open the doors to her life and explore bereavement and grief in a way not seen before, looking at how she is re-building her life without Tom.

Kelsey’s story and the impact on her young family is at the heart of the series and through her eyes we’ll see her meet with people from all walks of life, who can share their insights into grief and the different methods that can help find a way through it.

From household names who open up about their own personal experiences, to other young widows and bereavement experts, Kelsey’s journey will see her and her young family mark the major milestones without Tom and discover if exploring alternative approaches to grief like visiting death cafes and grief yoga can help a person come to terms with loss.

Amanda Stavri, ITV’s Commissioning Editor, Reality said: “Continuing our commitment to bring viewers real-life stories, we are privileged to have Kelsey bravely share her experience after the passing of her husband, Tom. Kelsey has allowed cameras into her home to follow her very own personal journey with grief, in the hope it helps others.”

Appearing on Loose Women in September, Kelsey opened up about how she is coping after the death of her husband.

After sharing her pride Tom, who has been posthumously nominated for a National Television Award for his moving documentary Tom Parker: Inside My Head, Kelsey talked about her new life as a widow and single mum.

She admitted: “Evenings are so tough – the kids go to bed and it’s just me and that’s the time you speak to your partner – you gossip, you talk and I don’t have that any more.”
