CLEANING grout is never a fun task and while there are many products out there to help ease the process, it can quite often turn into an expensive and tiresome job.
And while TikTok user @the_gooch attempted to share a ‘budget-friendly’ hack to tackle this area of the house, many were left unimpressed with how much product they would have to buy in order to achieve the sparkling results.
“You are gonna thank me for this budget friendly grout cleaning trick,” he started his short, 18-second clip.
Laying some blue masking tape on one side of the grout, he went on: “Take a tube of toothpaste, spread the toothpaste along the grout line…
“Grab your toothbrush and just scrub aggressively into the groutline.”
He then instructed viewers to take a damp cloth and wipe the area down, before adding that once the grout has dried “it’ll be good as new”.

Removing the masking tape, he then showed off the before and after results of his hack, revealing a much lighter colour grout on the side he cleaned.
Giving a thumbs up to the camera, he added: “You’re welcome”.
In the caption, he wrote: “The best and easiest way to clean your grout,” followed by three lightbulb emojis.
But people weren’t quite as impressed as perhaps @the_gooch was hoping as many said there are much cheaper alternatives then spending money on a countless number of toothpaste tubes.
