One savvy gardening fan took to money-saving Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK and shared a snap of the mega seed and vegetable shopping haul they nabbed during a recent visit.

The delighted shopper penned: "Thanks Wilko – that’s the allotment sorted!"

While she didn't reveal the exact discounted prices she paid for the items, she did share the huge variety of bargains on offer – from carrots and chives to parsnips, leeks and basil.

The post quickly racked up hundreds of likes and comments from green-fingered social media users up and down the country.

But while some assumed the prices have been slashed due to the store being on the brink of administration, employees and Wilko super fans revealed the huge discounts are the same every year.

"They always have a seed sale on this time of year," wrote one.

"They reduce by 25%, then 50%.

"At the moment ours is down to 70% off then they end up dropping the rest to 5p a packet when they are down to a basket full. Same every year.

"They will be missed if don't get a buyer."

A second agreed: "Every year seeds go this low in price.

"Towards end of summer they go to 5p."

A third advised: "FYI… u can order seeds online & pick up in ur local store. You can see what's available then."

And another added: "Wilko reduce them every year. Last year I got all mine for 5p a packet."
