I am a mum-of-one – I was brutally shamed online after sharing my mammoth present haul for my baby but I don’t care | The Sun

A MUM was brutally shamed online after she shared the huge haul of presents bought for her baby – but she said she didn’t care.

The mum-of-one from Sydney was eager to share a picture of the mountain of gifts her baby boy had gotten for his first Christmas.

She showed off the mammoth amount of toys along with a caption which said: “Has anyone else’s parents gone crazy for baby’s first Christmas?”

Amongst the haul of presents were books, clothes, baby formula, dummies as well as building blocks.

The mum had posted the pictures to a group Facebook with other parents but she soon met with some stern criticism from strangers who were “horrified” at the amount of things her son was receiving.

One said: “Don’t be offended when the baby gets over unwrapping after the second gift.”

Another wrote: “Sorry I don’t want to be a negative Nancy, and I mean no offence by this, but this is ridiculous. He is a baby and will never remember all of these things.”

A third person added: “I’m just imagining how many batteries you’ll be replacing.”

Although many were definitely unimpressed by the huge amount of gifts, others thought It was a “sweet” thing to do and a lovely way to celebrate the baby’s first Christmas.

“I actually love this and love seeing these kinds of posts for other kids!” one member of the group said.

WRAPPED UP

I was trolled for spending £1k on presents for daughter, 1, but I had my reasons

“I grew up homeless, without gifts, food, necessities due to being in an abusive and neglected home/foster homes and it really makes my heart happy to see others spoiled,” another person commented.

Having received a bashing online for the number of gifts for her baby, the mum issued an apology and clarified a few points.

She said she was “aware” there were less fortunate people and she would donate anything that was not needed.

The mum wrote: “Sorry to those that are offended or have a negative view.

“Baby has an overexcited grandma on his first Christmas (she’s overcompensating for being an unavailable parent in my childhood).

“Everything is being divided into gifts for this and next Christmas, his first birthday, regifting and donations.”

She added that while she had taken the photo, she “didn’t buy any of it” and stressed she was “aware this is excessive”.

“The crazy accumulated amount of stuff that we don’t need has been donated to a foster care company for children born addicted.”

Many people later backed her up, saying she should not have to apologise to strangers on the internet.

“No need to say sorry mama. You haven’t done anything wrong!” one wrote.

“Don’t let the downers get to you,” said another. “Your son is obviously so loved and adored!”
