I converted a shepherd's hut on top of a mountain into my dream home… but the first job was seriously gross | The Sun

A FORMER city dweller has moved off-grid after building her dream home on top of a mountain.

The hands-on homeowner shared a glimpse into the renovation work she did on the space.

In her video, the TikTok user, who goes by Lady and the Owl Man (@ladyandtheowlman), explained: "Two years ago we left our city lives behind.

"[We] moved to the top of a mountain in Spain, to live off-grid."

The homesteader showed her followers what the "old shepherd's house" looked like before they renovated it.

The house had earthen floors, and its walls had become covered in mold.

She also included clips showing the clutter left behind and the rats running around it.

"We began downstairs, cleaning out ancient donkey manure so we could strengthen the foundations of the house," she explained.

With help from friends and family, the couple could be seen shoveling the dung into a wheelbarrow.

She continued: "Then we began clearing upstairs, we laid a new concrete floor and cleared a path to the front door."

The duo also added solar, electric, and furniture to make the off-grid home liveable and self-sustainable.

The family knocked down walls and added concrete to the beams to improve structural support.

Walking through her garden, she showed viewers the new and improved space.

The inside was painted white with colorful furniture to brighten it up.

The open living space included a lounge and a stand-alone bathtub.

The area also featured a kitchen and dining section and a bed with a privacy curtain.

The family home also had a wood-burning stove, which the couple kept going with a neatly stacked pile of wood in the garden.

"Now we have our dream home on the very top of a mountain in Spain," she told her audience.

TikTok users took to the comments section to share their thoughts on the home.

One viewer said: "How lovely! It always was my dream but I never got to it, I'm so happy for you guys!"
