He said: "I decided to go big with it because I wanted to make it a feature of the room. "

"I wanna have the impact of a headboard without taking up more space. So I’m trying to utilise the space in my bedroom as much as I can."

George tested both paints and decided to go with Maple tan for his final choice.

“Before I decided on a colour I put both paints on the wall just to see how they would try and I decided to go with Maple Tan.”

The DIY fan was careful with his strokes to give his headboard a matt finish.

“I’ve always been told to brush in the same direction. Just to paint the quality of the paint looks matte.”

George peeled off the tape and his headboard was complete.

“These are my results. I've got a whole head board for £4. It look’s effective, it’s cost effective.”

George’s video gained over 46,000 views.

But viewers were divided as to whether they saw George's transformation as a hack.

One user said: “I think you need to rephrase that it’s painting a wall not building a headboard!!!!

Another said: “No building, just painting.”

But many viewers confessed they thought the hack was genius.
