I transformed my worktop in an afternoon – I didn't have high hopes but it turned out great and saved me thousands | The Sun

A SAVVY mum has revealed how she transformed her kitchen worktop in an afternoon – and people can’t believe how luxe it looks.

Kilee shared how she used a marble paint kit from Amazon to give her kitchen a brand-new look on a budget.

The DIY pro, known online as @kileerainbow, regularly shares interior design tips and home hacks with her 176,300 followers.

In a new TikTok, she said: “I painted my countertops because, for some reason, I have this idea in my head that everything is figure out-able, and that if I watch enough YouTube videos, I can do whatever I want.

“I’m not sure if that’s a good trait or not, but it has earned me a lot of comments on social media telling me I am both brilliant and stupid. Such is life.

“I’ve never lived in a house with countertops that I actually liked so I figured why not give it a go?

I’m a DIY pro and transformed my halfway using bargains from Amazon and Dunelm

“The kit came from Amazon and it had a mix of reviews both from people who said it was amazing and people insisting they followed the directions but clearly did not.

“So just to be safe I read the directions three times.

“Anyway, first came three coats of white paint, then the veining to make it look like a real countertop.

“This part is much easier than it looks, but it also took me four hours because I tend to be a little bit of an overthinker.

“After that was all dry, I did feel like a real DIYer and topped it with a resin epoxy that has to dry for what seems like years if you have kids and animals in your house, and I did spend half the day picking floating specks of dust out of it.

“But it’s done and now we’re onto the next step of the kitchen DIY which is fixing the cabinets.”

Shoppers can get the marble paint kits from various retailers, including Amazon, with prices starting at £60.

TikTok users loved her crafty idea, with the video gaining more than 162,400 likes and 2.6 million views.
