I’m a foodie and bought everything for my Christmas roast in M&S for a fiver – including dessert | The Sun

FOR loads of us, the best thing about Christmas isn't the music, films or even presents – it's the food.

But the truth is cooking a huge roast isn't always cheap, especially if you've got friends and family coming over.

Well one savvy shopper managed to bag everything she needs for the festive meal from Marks and Spencer for just a fiver, and that's including dessert.

Sharing the food shop on her TikTok account (@wishfulshrinking_) KJ showed that you don't need a fortune to whip up a delicious meal.

She explained that she already had a few bit at home, but needed to buy "basically everything" anyway.

Starting off with the vegetables, KJ grabbed a pack of parsnips for 60p and a pack of carrots for 45p which she plans to roast with honey.

Then she added a large broccoli for 70p to her basket and a cauliflower for everyone's favourite cauliflower cheese.

Next she grabbed an extra large whole chicken and even managed to find a pack of 12 pigs in blankets that were reduced.

"I already had some in the freezer that I defrosted, so this will replace them," KJ explained.

Milk, cheese, flour and sage and red onion stuffing mix were next on the shopper's list, followed by a bottle of honey for the carrots and parsnips for £1.80.

For dessert she found a bramley, apple and blackberry pie and a tub of Madagascan vanilla custard, which just the thought of has got our mouths watering.

Once she got home everything was cooked to perfection.

KJ said: "I laid the table nicely as this is our Christmas trial run."

"This all came to £5 a head for main and dessert for five people," she revealed.

Some people pointed out that certain items are cheaper in different shops, but overall they were impressed with the bargain buys.

"Our Asda stuffing is 45p, nearly £2 for stuffing," one commented.

But KJ agreed, she said: "It is loads cheaper elsewhere, but not worth driving to another shop!

"Plus, this one is double the quantity to the Tesco 60p one!"
