I’m a gardening whizz and finally have conquered all my pesky weeds with the easiest 80p solution ever | The Sun

WEEDS can be tricky to get rid of once they pop up in your garden and many homeowners end up forking out on pricey products to get rid of them.

But one savvy gardener has shared the trick she swears by to banish them for good.

It turns out it'll only cost you 80p to remove them, and you probably already have some of the ingredients in your kitchen cupboards already.

Terri, who often shares money saving tips on her Instagram account, explained how she did it.

Start by mixing together one gallon of white vinegar, one cup of salt and three tablespoons of of dish soap, to conquere the pesky weeds.

Next, she added the ingredients to a spray bottle and covered the tops of the plants in the mixture.

"Weeds update. The weeds are dead the weeds are freaking dead," she raved.

She continued: "An environmentally friendly way to eliminate this annoying and time sucking summer problem.

"Also child safe, pet safe and CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP!"

And although Terri used a large spray bottle to get the job done, she noted that pouring the mixture directly onto the weeks would work just as well.

And Terri isn't the only gardening fan who swears by the trick – Rebecca Sears, gardening guru at Seeds of Change, told Martha Stewart why it works so well.

"The acid within vinegar breaks down cell walls and removes moisture from weeds, causing them to die off," she said.

"Vinegars that you keep in your kitchen, such as white vinegar, contain a level of acidity that can help remove weeds without affecting surrounding plants."

After posting about the trick on social media other keen gardeners vouched said they couldn't wait to try it out.

One said: "I need to try this! I have an amazing ignored amount of weeds in my yard."

And a second added: "Make sure to protect any plants you want to keep, this will kill them too, not just weeds."
