I'm a gypsy – Christmas is a huge competition in my community, some spend £60 on ONE bauble so their homes look the best | The Sun

A GYPSY has revealed that Christmas is the biggest competition of all in her community, with some women spending £60 on just one bauble.

Suzy regularly shares facts about her life in videos on her social media pages, and was recently asked by one of her followers: "Is there lots of competition between the women in the travelling community?"

"This is a very good question and I am gonna upset a few people, but who don't I upset nowadays?" Suzy replied.

"Big, big competition within the gypsy, traveller community. Big competition.

"Whether it be the motors, the designers, staff, the handbags, the jewellery, the watches, whatever it is.

There's a big competition – whatever someone had last year, someone's gonna have better this year.

"My god, I'm sitting in Shein!"

She added that "Christmas is one of the biggest time for showing off".

"And it's like they'll have all their gifts laid out, like on a bed or on the bunk or wherever the f**k they're lying about on," Suzy commented.

"Or a big table.

"And they've got their shoes out and their clothes out and their perfumes and designer stuff and diamonds.

"And next to every single present is gonna be a fucking receipt just to prove that it's not fake or they got it from somewhere really expensive.

"You think them getting dressed up to look the best at a wedding is a Competition.

Back in her day, Suzy said it "wasn't really a thing", and there'd only be the odd girl who had a designer item – like a Louis Vuitton bag.

And they even had a name for the girls who had more than they did – Valeris.

"Ah, look, Valeri girls are coming out," she remembered.

"And we were the rough ones, our expensive shop was River Island!"

Concluding, Suzy said: "Big competition coming up at Christmas.

"Wait till you see."

People were quick to comment on the video, with one writing: "I’ve never been one to compete, I just do me, but I don’t mind seeing it."
