I'm a mom – I used seven Dollar Tree dupes to make my 8-year-old son the perfect back to school kit | The Sun

A TIKTOK mom has revealed how to make the ultimate back to school kit with items from Dollar Tree.

The dupes make up their own practically priced version of beloved subscription kits like Cratejoy and Toy Box Monthly that thrift followers can't stop raving about.

"Let's find him a bag," the video began.

Erica, known as @ericamasterfunk, picked up a light green bag for her eight-year-old from Dollar Tree.

"This one will work," the text overlay read as she collected the bag.

She then picked up a hand sanitizer labeled "City of Love".

"This will come in handy when he's back in school," she said.

When it came to the taco-printed socks, Erica "couldn't resist."

Her son "loves tacos, and its a three pack," with one stripe pair thrown into the mix.

"And Kleenex because… germs," she said of the tissue multi-pack.

"Cute little chopsticks" also make a great addition, said Erica, even if she doesn't know if he'll use them.

For a sweet finish, Erica threw in some Hubba Bubba bubblegum.

She then picked up a padded envelope to finish the dupe subscription bag experience.

The hand sanitizer, striped socks, kleenex, chopsticks, bubblegum all fit snugly in the bag.

Erica said her husband helps design the mailer to make it look unique, and even included a "little shipping label."

"Back to School – Itsy Bitsy Bag," the mailer reads after a bit of crafting magic applied by Erica's husband.

Video viewers raved in the comments about the clever combination.

"I love this idea. So much fun. I can imagine his face when he’s opening it," one comment read.

"I'll totally make a video of him opening it," Erica replied, "I'm curious to see how he reacts."

Another commentor generously supported Erica with: "This is so sweet. Mom of the year award goes to you!"

One other TikToker had a slight adjustment to make to take the design of the bag above and beyond: "I'd have grabbed a watermelon Hubba Bubba to keep on the green theme."
