A TRAVELLER girl has revealed four things that gypsies do that country folk find strange.
Not only did Charlotte Ann, 29, claim that gypsies would never wear their shoes inside, but she also revealed her strong beliefs on marriage and leaving home.
As well as this, Charlotte explained in depth about travellers’ respect for their elders and why they will always call people older than them aunt or uncle, even if they aren’t biologically related.
Sharing her gypsy traditions on social media, Charlotte said: “Things that gypsies and travellers do that country people, aka non-travellers find strange.
“Number one is marriage. We do not believe in leaving home until you're married and don't believe in living together.
“So basically you will not leave home till you get married. So what it means by that is it's marriage or nothing.

“Some travellers and gypsies run away, but you will get married after you run away as well. That's what we believe in.
"And that's because obviously the majority of us are other Christian or Catholic, we’re brought up in Christianity or Catholicism, so that is the reason for that.
“We do not believe in having like living together partners – it's marriage or nothing. It's as simple as that.”
Charlotte then explained why she would never wear shoes inside, as she added: “Another one that people find strange is wearing your shoes inside.

“I would never, ever wear my shoes in my home or inside anyone else's home.
“I think it's a height of ignorance, and I take my shoes off if I'm going into someone's place. I can't do that [wear shoes inside], it’s ignorant.”
Not only this, but Charlotte also explained the two things gypsies do when it comes to elders.
She claimed: “Another one is our elders – we’re very, very funny about our elders.
“For instance, if an elder woman walked in and I was something to sit, I would get up and give her my chair if there's no other chairs and I'd sit on the floor or stand up.
“You don't have to be related to me, she just has to be elder. And the same goes for in cars.
“If an older woman is getting in a car with you, you'll get in the back and leave her in the front because she's older than you.
“We're very, very funny about respecting our elders.
“And another one is – it's something to do with elders again. Mainly gypsies do this, not Irish travellers, but if a woman is older than you, or a man, you call them your aunt or your uncle.
“You don't even have to know him that well. But you will call him aunts out of respect because they're older than you.”
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @charlotteann00, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly racked up a whopping 321,900 views.
