One of the biggest hacks from her professional life she's learned is that a strong color palette is key to an elegant home and serves as the basis of interior design.

"Once you have your color palette, you can create a very elevated look with that color palette. And you can shop high-end and you can shop low-end," she says.

According to Fussell, once you find your distinct color palette, it makes it easier to walk into a store like Ikea and shop because you are attuned to what looks good in your space.

The second piece of advice is to create an online mood board.

If shopping at Ikea online, she suggests putting every interesting item into a cart and then placing the pictures together on editing apps, like Picstitch or Canva, to see what they look like together.

The third trick she tells viewers about is to make sure to measure your space before filling up your room because having too many items in one room can really downgrade the look of it.

"Rather than trying to fit as much into the space as you possibly can, I would recommend measuring out the space and think about leaving room to be able to walk through the space, to really give yourself that breathing room," Fussell says.

The next piece of advice she offers is to grab an Ikea art piece and paint over it to create something special or take their framed art and put family photos or personal pictures inside.

"If you want a more sophisticated, elevated look, I would think about either purchasing or painting your own abstract artwork," she states.

Another thing she does is she takes smaller Ikea art pieces and buys several to replicate them on a larger scale together by creating a wall installation.

"One of my all-time favorite things to do from Ikea is to create a hotel look with their bed linens," she shares as she moves on to her next hack.

She adds that bed linens with the satiné finish look incredibly luxurious and high-end and will take your bedroom from drab to fab with their high-quality sets in white, grey, and more.

The next Ikea detail the interior designer loves is their cushions.

"I've got a stash of them in my staging area because it's just, they're so affordable and they come in lots of beautiful, different colors," she claims.

She proposes going for their down inserts to extend the longevity of the product because "they really hold up to wear and tear and use."

"Pillows are one of the best things Ikea sells and they really just nail it," she says.

In addition, she urges viewers to invest in Ikea throw blankets because they also really make up a room.

"I have some that I've used for years that are just nice and thin and they look really great just sitting over the arm, and then I've got others that are just thicker and are cozier," she explains.

Using a throw blanket to dress up a space is a quick trick to dress up a space, and Ikea has a plethora of options for any color scheme.

The penultimate thing she says that really takes any space up a notch is the inclusion of books on any Ikea furniture piece like a coffee table, bookshelf, or cabinet,

It elevates and brings a newfound texture into a room by personalizing it with design detail.

Her final design notion is to finish out any room with a signature fragrance, also sold at Ikea.

"It really takes a room that's just kinda blah to a room that just envelops you and really invites you in, and it really just makes you feel really elevated," she voices softly.

If the candle coloring or container is not your signature style, she recommends placing it in a vase or covering it with flower details that work with your signature color scheme.
