I've asked my landlord to fix my drafty windows for 3 years, my room is freezing even with heating, but I found a $2 fix | The Sun

IF you notice a draft blowing through your home this winter season don't worry, there's a simple solution.

One woman showed her followers the handy hack she uses to keep her house warm during the winter.

In her video, Maggie (@heyitsmaggiey) explained: "Some of the windows are so rotten and I’ve been asking [my landlord] since before Covid existed to replace the windows."

While she waited on her new window panes, the TikToker took a DIY approach to her draft problem.

"Last night it was freezing in my bedroom and that’s with the radiator on and a plug-in radiator," she told her followers.

She pointed out that her bed wasn't against the window but was still cold, leaving her to sleep in a T-shirt, sweater, and sweatpants.

"I have a thick winter duvet and a blanket on top, I’m making an effort," Maggie said.

She also revealed that there was another heater directly behind her bed but the room was still cold due to the strong draft.

Taking matters into her own hands, she used two household items to tackle the issue.

"It was still so cold in here so I got up and I put the [plastic wrap] over the window with Scotch tape so it won’t take the paint off when I take it off the wall," she explained.

Maggie continued: "It’s not going to ruin anything and wow, you cannot feel a draft in the window anymore.

"It’s so nice, I mean it’s ugly AF but I tell you, if you want to save on heating or even you don’t care about the bill but you just want to be warm, I did this last night and it worked."

She described the hack as "100% worth the effort, 10 out of 10 for this."

Using $1 Scotch tape and $1 plastic wrap, Maggie said: "This is how is how I survive winter."

She pointed out: "I just went for it middle of the cold night spur of the moment.

"I’m not spending extra, only I will see them."
