Sophie Wessex, 57, and Prince Edward, 58, visited Preston Market Hall on Wednesday for their first joint royal engagement since the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. What did the Countess of Wessex wear?

Sophie donned a blazer and trouser combo from Me and Em for the occasion.

The Autumn Puppytooth Boyfriend blazer cost £295, which the Countess wore unbuttoned over a simple white blouse.

It is described as a “fresh, trans-seasonal pattern that covers soft, midweight tailoring”.

The checkered pattern of the blazer contains navy, off-white and red, which from a distance gives the illusion that it is pink.

“Featuring key colours from our August collection, the Puppytooth motif heroes deep red and navy brightened by off white that ensures it complements your summer staples just as effortlessly as autumn essentials,” the description continued.

Sophie, of course, paired the blazer with the matching slim crop trousers from Me and Em.

These sell for just £185, making the Countess’ suit cost £480.

The trousers have the same colour scheme as their matching blazer, meaning they are perfect for autumn and summer alike.

They have been described by Me and Em as an “effortless building block to a plethora of looks”.

How did Sophie accessorise?

The Countess opted for her Valextra Iside mini bag in white, which costs a sensational £2,650.

The small white handbag “caters for every day and evening essentials,” according to the Valextra website.

In addition, “its leather-coated clasp and strap can be detached at the touch of a finger”.

For her jewellery, Sophie wore her Cassandra Goad ‘Love the Life’ quote pendant, which would set you back £865.

This necklace is engraved with the words “Love the life you live, live the life you love”, by Bob Marley.

What shoes did the Countess wear?

Sophie opted for a new purchase and bought a pair of Jimmy Choo Romy 60 red suede pumps.

These contrasted nicely with the softer red, navy and off-white checkered suit.

The vivid red stilettos cost £550, and they are a favourite among royal women.

Royal fan @thetalltourer wrote on Instagram: “Gorgeous red contrast with the pink ensemble. Love!”

Similarly, @alisahilde_ commented: “Very classic look.”
