People say my baby’s three unique names are ‘ugly’ and ‘stupid’ and sound like ‘word vomit’ | The Sun

WHEN a mom introduced her fifth child to the world, she was proud to share the one-of-a-kind name she chose for him.

But cruel trolls latched on to the unique name and made nasty comments about the family.

An anonymized screenshot of the mom's Instagram post was posted to the Reddit forum NameNerdCircleJerk, where commenters make fun of baby names.

The Reddit user captioned their snarky post, "Nice word vomit ya got there."

In her post, the new mom had written, "Our boy who came into our lives as quickly and peacefully as the leaves changed to gold, Gather Enoch Ryle."

The mom didn't disclose her son's last name but shared his two middle names instead.

Commenters were quick to open up and reveal their true feelings about the name.

"The name reminds me of gathering sticks or bones," one Reddit user said. "It’s a creepy name but perfect for Fall."

"It’s one thing to pick a random word and use it to name your child," said one disapproving commenter.

But, the poster said, "That kid has an ugly, stupid name."

"As much as I dislike Hunter, Fisher, etc. as first names, at least those are nouns," another person chimed in.

The names ending in -er divided opinion.

"Parker, Hunter, Carter, all work just fine," one admitted. "I kind of even like Rider spelled this way."

Several people wondered which of the three names the boy might go by.

"Gather? I can’t even think of a natural nickname for that," a confused commenter said.

Some worried what the family's last name was, because the last letter could spell a name with the GER- prefix.

"My initials spell a word and I refused to tell anyone what my middle name was because of it," another user confessed.

"It is a food, so there were plenty of nicknames," they added.
