Waitrose customers have gone wild for the statement bag which was crafted by a British accessories designer, Lulu Guinness.
The black, white, and red design is described as a “sustainable shopper” bag with “signature style and personality”.
Crafted from a canvas material, the large accessory features wide monochrome stripes with a large red lip motif in the centre.
Finished with a branded red strap and a small red lip tag, the bag is a standout piece among the retailer’s less trendy reusable shopping bag collection.
And at a bargain price of just £12, it’s no wonder people can’t wait to get their hands on one.
The own-label item is currently unavailable to buy on the Waitrose website but keen shoppers may find them being re-sold elsewhere online.
In fact, many people have taken to eBay to cash in on their purchase by pricing the item double, or even triple the original price.
One fan of the statement accessory took to Instagram to share their disappointment at missing out on the bag, writing: “I ordered online as soon as it was available. Went to collect and was told they’d sold out. No info about more stock. Really disappointing. I can see they’re now going on eBay for £50.”
A second shopper wrote: “Love Lulu – disappointed, visited three stores today but all sold out very early but loads on eBay. Shame people have bought just to make a profit. But guess that’s just how things are now. Does look like a fabulous bag, would have been a great addition to my wonderful Lulu collection.”
Current listings for the bag on eBay range from £29.99 to as much as £50.
Many have sold for a high-end price, with one seller listing a duo of the unique Lulu Guinness bag for a staggering £120.
Speaking about her design, Lulu told Waitrose: “It’s called Beach Bag because I love using it for that purpose.
“But it’s also designed to be super versatile and used as your grocery bag for life too. It’s your everything bag! Brighten up those shopping trips!”
When in stock, the bag is available to buy in selected Waitrose stores and can be ordered online.
