A YOUNG woman has shared the cheap laundry hack she swears by.

So if your clothes are giving off a nasty stench even after washing them, you’ll need to listen up.



There’s nothing worse than clothes smelling of grim food, or gym gear that reeks of sweat, but fear not, as Riya Gohil, who is from the US, has shared her simple tip that you must try. 

Sharing her cleaning advice on social media, Riya said: “Here’s a quick laundry hack to get rid of any scents in your clothes!!”

Riya then explained: “So I'm doing laundry today, and I just wanted to share this bit of knowledge.

“When you live with your parents and your mum's cooking is delicious, but the odour is so strong that no matter what you do, you can't get out of your clothes.

“Even when I would do laundry, especially, like, for my tights and stuff, the smell of the Indian food would never get out.

“One day, I read online that you should throw in baking soda, with your load of laundry.

“And so ever since I started doing that, honestly, any scent, it gets rid of it, no matter what.”

The curly-haired girl then explained that not only does using baking soda get rid of food smells, but it banishes sweat odours too, as she added: “It doesn't even have to be food, even in my gym clothes, any smells of sweat and stuff like that, everything comes out.

“And my laundry is left smelling so fresh. and, yeah, it completely changed my life. So, try it out.” 

Riya later confirmed: “Use detergent as you normally do, but also throw in the baking powder.”

If you fancy giving this hack a try and don’t have any baking soda in your cupboard already, you can nab some from many supermarkets and high-street chains.

For those on a budget, you’ll be pleased to know that you can pick up baking soda for just 65p from Tesco. 

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @riyadgohil, has clearly left many impressed, as it has amassed 132,900 views. 

Social media users were thankful for the advice and were eager to express this in the comments.
