Bride jilts groom at the altar after he invites banned guest last minute

Your wedding day is often the best and happiest but also the most stressful day of your life.

One bride-to-be jilted her groom at the alter after discovering he had made a last-minute addition to the guest list.

Her joy quickly turned to anger when her fiancé went behind her back to invite the guest, who she had previously banned from attending.

According to The Mirror, the bride didn’t want her dad to attend because of a breakdown in their relationship.

Despite never meeting her dad, her husband-to-be was adamant he should be there as he was still part of her family.

So, when the woman was dressed and ready to walk down the aisle, she saw the last face she expected to see taking a seat in the church which left heartbroken and seething.

The ordeal left her feeling as if she could no longer trust her partner since he had ignored her boundaries.

In a post on Reddit, she said: "I don't really have a relationship with my father. He was abusive when I was a kid and when I turned 20 I decided to cut him out of my life. My siblings still talk to him, which is why we still interact on rare occasions, but that's it.

"A few months ago, while we were planning the wedding, my fiancé and I got into a fight about inviting him. My fiancé thought that because he is my father, he has the right to be at our wedding and I said if my father would be at our wedding, I would not be.

"We had a pretty small wedding, 30 people, only close friends and family and my side all know how little I think of my father. So on the day, my maid of honour came to me and asked why I had changed my mind about inviting him. I said I didn't, so she asked why he was sitting in one of the chairs with my stepmother.

"I was livid. It turns out, my fiancé invited him. How could he? I made it clear that I didn't want him there. He had never met my father at the time. When I asked him, he said he just felt like I would regret not inviting my father and now that he was here we couldn't change it.

"I turned around and left the wedding, and him, I guess. I called my mother (she was still at the wedding) on my way home, I told her what happened and she suggested I go to her place and she'll handle the rest and tell the groom. I've been staying at her house ever since.

"How could he? I clearly established a boundary and he chose to ignore it because he knows better. How could I marry anyone who would ignore my boundaries like that? Am I justified in feeling betrayed? I just can't imagine being married to him now that he has disregarded my wishes like that."

Commenters on the post were quick to defend the woman for walking out on her wedding, with many of them stating her partner had "disrespected" her by inviting her dad against her wishes.

One person wrote: "He overstepped massively and will now find out after f***ing around. You established a clear boundary and he disrespected it. No matter what, the trust is gone so you made the right call by bailing out."

While another said: "This was clearly a non-negotiable boundary for you and he crossed it thinking he knows best. You’ve had a lucky escape I'd say."

And a third posted: "That red flag could've covered half of a continent, I'm so glad you immediately got out of there. And you're right, you set a very, painfully clear boundary, for your wedding day of all days, and he just thinks he can override you? What an absolute piece of absurd garbage!"
