TikTok viewers were left heartbroken after a makeup artist shared a video of an unnamed bride who asked to be transformed into someone else for her big day.

Professional MUA Selena Marchand posted a video on the app, captioned with the bride's 'sad' request, which has since racked up over 218,000 views.

The excited bride wanted to look completely different by the time she was finished getting ready to tie the knot – with Selena more than happy to help with the glamorous makeover, the Mirror reports.

She then shared the transformation to her profile @selenamup, showing off before and after shots of her client with the caption: "This bride told me to turn her into a different person – I said done”

She got down to business as she documented the make-up process to complete the finished look – which included sparkling eyeshadow, foundation and contour.

"My beautiful bride," she wrote as she finished off the final look.

However, the video didn't land well with all of Selena's followers who were saddened by the bride's request to look like someone else.

"Different person? This is kinda sad tho," one user wrote.

"This made me really sad," another penned. "I want to look back and see myself, not a different person."

A third agreed: “Should've replied with, 'No, let’s enhance your beauty!'”

Selena – who has gained over 14,000 followers on her Instagram account @selenamup – took to the comments to defend her decision.

The talented MUA said: “I let my clients determine what makes them feel beautiful, not my opinion.”

Another user came to the woman's defence and wrote: "Why is everyone criticising you? The beautiful bride asked for something and got it. She may love make-up and uses it similarly every day".

Another complimented the bride for looking like a "Disney princess".
