8.4 MILLION UK households will receive a payment of £326 this week – as Brits continue to face soaring cost of living expenses.
Payments will begin on July 14 and come as the first half of the £650 government payment to those using Universal Credit and other benefits.
Not everyone will qualify for this payment however.
You will need to be on means tested benefits to get the help – and even then you may not qualify.
The government will also examine your salary and other forms of income prior to granting the payment.
Those who only receive housing benefits will not be granted this cost of living payment.
Brits are currently facing the biggest hike in energy bills for decades, with the average household payment reaching £3,300 by October.
This comes as the effects of the war in Ukraine and the Covid-19 pandemic come together to dramatically raise oil prices and increase inflation.

When will you receive your second cost of living payment?
The first £326 of the government's cost of living payment will start hitting bank accounts this week.
The second half will take some time to arrive though.
While a specific date has not been announced, Brits can expect the next payment during autumn.

Not all payments will be sent at the same time
Payments for the first instalment of the £650 cost of living payment will begin rolling out this week, but some may receive the payment later than others.
The government have assured Brits that all those eligible will still receive the money by July 31, however.
The DWP say it's because there are millions of payments that need to go out and they can't all be processed on a single day.
In a written statement, DWP Minister, David Rutley MP, said: “Due to the volume of people entitled to the payment, it is not possible to issue all of the Cost of Living Support Payments at the same time.
"Issuing payments will be staggered, but not by benefit type, starting on July 14, 2022.”
