Heston Blumenthal charging £1,837 a head for Xmas dinner – but there’s no turkey

High rollers can splurge a staggering £1,837 per person for Christmas dinner at famous telly chef Heston Blumenthal’s posh place.

The chef is offering up a treat for festive diners at his Michelin-starred Fat Duck eatery. But turkey is off the menu and there’s no sign of traditional favourite Christmas pudding either.

Discussing his feelings about "normal" Christmas grub, Heston said: “I love the sights, sounds and smells of the festive period, but I can’t stand the traditional Christmas dinner.”

The price for his Christmas dinner is £425 per person and diners can opt for a £1,208 wine pairing and a service charge of 12.5% is added to the bill, bringing the total to £1,837 per head.

Diners heading to the Fat Duck in Bray, Berkshire, can rest assured that the celebrity chef’s food will be nothing like the traditional festive fayre served across the land.

The restaurant reveals: "The Festive period is one full of wonderment and anticipation. Join us on the fortunes of Christmas, along the way there’ll be sprouts, chocolate, guilty pleasures, baubles, mulled wine, indulgence and magical transformations.

“However you celebrate it, Yuletide is a time full of memories and emotions. Come prepared for excitement, joy, discovery and some nice surprises – after all, isn’t that what Christmas is all about.”

The menu consists of truffled egg with salmon, a langoustine cocktail, scallops, venison, beef and cheese and nuts.
