Cleaning is one of those tasks that can be quite time-consuming and tiring.

Vacuuming and moping is a walk in the park for me – but when it comes to the oven, no thank you.

The appliance gets extremely grubby as most of my meals are cooked in there.

Oven bags are usually my go-to, but even then they can be a bit of a faff.

So instead of using conventional cleaning products, which can be pretty pricey, I thought I'd try a famous trick that's loved by Mrs Hinch fans.

Many have been using dishwasher tablets to eliminate grease from their appliances – but does it actually work?

For starters, I love a cleaning hack that takes me less than 20 minutes.

But when I cracked open the dishwasher tablet and got to work, it felt like mission impossible.

Although I saw instant results, things took a different turn when the tablet crumbled into pieces, making more mess.

I thought it would make things difficult but I whipped out an old toothbrush and was amazed by how simple it felt.

What started out as a huge mistake turned into utter relief as the grime scrubbed off ever so easily.

It took me just one dishwasher tablet to eliminate the dirt and hardly any elbow grease. What a result…

And the whole process – even with the drama of the crumbled tablet – took me just over 20 minutes to complete.

After the scrubbing, I wiped the oven with all-purpose spray to give it a nice smell.

I used just one from a bag of the All-In-One Dishwasher Tablets from Tesco.

The packet costs £4 and comes with 40 tablets, so the handy hack only cost me 10p.

Not bad considering an oven bag is more costly and makes slightly more mess for me.

Since this barely took much of my time, I won't be so scared of cleaning the oven ever again…

So will you give it a go? I'd definitely recommend it.

Previously, a woman shared a "game-changing" cleaning hack to banish yellow pillow stains fast.

The Mrs Hinch fan grew tired of the stains on her pillow cases so went to work with a popular hack.

She soaked them for two hours with a cup full of Ace For Whites before whacking them in the washing machine.

"I did put them in the dryer for 10 minutes with a tennis ball and then literally hung them out to finish drying," she said.

"I can't believe how much dirt came out of them and how nice and white they now look while still keeping their shape."
