A flight attendant has taken to TikTok to share six game-changing hotel hacks, she believes will make travelling a whole lot easier.

Esther Sturrus, who works for Dutch airline KLM, has stayed in hotels all over the world and regularly updates her TikTok following of more than 150,000 people with ways to make travelling easier.

And now the flight attendant, from The Netherlands, has revealed her most quirky  trick yet, to leave one of your shoes in the safe in your hotel room.

Many people are afraid to leave their valuables in the room safe in case they forget them when they leave.

Flight attendant Esther Sturrus (pictured) has shared a TikTok video sharing her top hotel hacks for travelling

In a compilation video of hotel hacks Esther said: ‘Worried about forgetting something from your locker? Put your heel or shoe in it and you won’t forget it.’

The theory behind this is you will never leave the room without both shoes. And if you bring more than one pair, simply swap this for a jacket or coat – something you would never leave without.

One of her followers commented: ‘The heel shoe hack is a great idea.’

Other hacks included pinning blackout curtains together with a clothes hanger where there are gaps and using a hotel shower cap to cover shoes when packing them in a suitcase.

Esther said that by putting your shoe in the hotel safe you will make sure you don’t forget anything that is in it

Esther said that people are reluctant to use the hotel safe as they are afraid that they will forget whatever they put in it. But by putting a shoe, that you wouldn’t leave the room without, you are more likely to remember

Travellers commented that it was a ‘really cool’ and ‘smart’ hack as these are some of the most irritating aspects about staying in a hotel.

Covering your shoes with with a shower cap in particular is a useful way to protect your clothes from dirt when you to re-pack your suitcase.

Alternatively, the shower cap can also be used as a cover for the remote control. This is ‘very handy’ as ‘those things are dirty,’ Esther explained.

The flight attendant’s next hack was to use your USB cable and charge your devices in the TV, if you found yourself without a world travel plug or with one that doesn’t work.

Esther also shared other hacks such as putting your dirty shoes in the hotel room’s free shower caps to protect your clothes from dirt

Esther said that you can also cover the remote with a shower cap if they are dirty and also clip the curtains together with a clothes hanger if there are gaps

Finally, she said that there is no need to use the room key for your electricity and instead, guests ‘can also use any other card for this.’

Flight attendant Miguel Muñoz previously shared with Express.co.uk some of his favourite hotel hacks and said that he never goes to a hotel without his own ‘mug, salt and pepper, my own bamboo cutlery set and coffee sachets’ as ‘some hotels don’t give you any.’

In terms of packing a suitcase, he explained that packing cubes are essential for him as he always packs his clothes into these little compartments.

He said: ‘I organise all my clothes by day but you can do what works best for you. This is especially handy if you are going to move around or change hotels.’

Miguel also said that he wears his biggest jacket or jumper for travelling so it doesn’t take up space in his suitcase, and he rolls his underwear and socks into his trainers to save on space, plus anything fragile he may have.
