Will Mellor has been confirmed as the first celebrity set to appear on this year's Strictly Come Dancing, with the Hollyoaks actor getting ready to take on the "huge challenge".
Will, 46, has shared his joy over being cast for the star-studded BBC One show, which is said to be returning in September, saying: "I'm honestly so chuffed to be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this year!
"Not going to lie, it's totally out of my comfort zone and I know it will be a huge challenge but that's what life is all about."
Will added: "This is also my Mum's favourite show and she’s had a really tough few years so I’m doing this is for her as well. Bring it on!”
Many will recognise Will from shows such as Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, Coronation Street and Casualty, but what do we know about the actor's family life? Let's take a look…
Who is Will Mellor?
Will is an English actor and presenter who has been in a range of well known shows.
The 46 year old was born in Greater Manchester and he’s been acting since 1990, starting out when he was just 14.
His first role was as Ben Rowlingson in kids’ programme Children’s Ward.
He has also starred in Harbour Lights, Fat Friends and Is Harry on the Boat? and you might also know him from his roles in Hollyoaks and Casualty.
Perhaps his best known role was in Hollyoaks where he played Jambo Bolton from 1995 until 2004.
Another longer role was his part in Casualty from 2001 until 2003 playing Jack Vincent.
The talented actor has starred in his fair share of soaps, and also played Warren in EastEnders.
He joined the cast of Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps as Gaz Wilkinson too and became a known face in Broadchurch, No Offence and White Van Man.
The famous star joined Line of Duty as PC Rod Kennedy in 2016 too, a character who was later murdered by The Caddy.
Will then joined the cast of Coronation Street in 2021 as villain Harvey Gaskell and he starred in 27 episodes of the hit ITV soap.
When it was revealed that Will would be taking on the role of Harvey he said he was "honoured" to be joining Corrie, saying: “I’m honoured to be asked to come into Coronation Street, it’s such an iconic show and has been a huge part of my family life.
"When I started acting 32 years ago it was my mum’s dream for me to be in Corrie so I’m happy to finally be able to make it come true. It’s a Manchester institution and as a Manchester actor this is definitely a box ticked.
"Harvey is the first out and out baddie I’ve ever played. It’s a very different type of role for me so I’m looking forward to getting my teeth into the character and making some waves.”
