Most people hope to simply blend in when they walk down the street, but for Bowen Goh, it was a badge of honour when his face tattoos began causing strangers to cross the road.

Bowen runs two trendy bar clubs in Brooklyn, New York, while pursuing his long-held passion for tattooing on the side.

He stopped counting at 400, but estimates that he has between 500 and 600 tattoos of various cartoons and quotes currently littered all over his body.

One of Bowen’s most noticeable inkings is a line of barbed wire running just below his hairline – and the tattoo fanatic admitted this sparked an unusual reaction from members of the public.

“The reason I got it actually is because I have a brother, and he has a receding hairline. So I was like, ‘I’m going to have a receding hairline, but I would love to know beforehand,” he told the Inked YouTube channel.

“So I decided to get a forehead tattoo there, so that if I notice space between the tattoo and my hairline, then I’ll be like, okay I’ve got to go to the doctor.

“When I got that tattoo, I would walk down the street, it was the first time in my life where I kind of noticed people walking slightly to the other side of the sidewalk.”

But rather than feeling offended by this response, Bowen admitted that he enjoyed getting a reaction.

He added: “Some people might not like that, but for me, I thought it was cool.

"I was like, ‘oh I’m making an impression on all these strangers on the street’, whether or not it’s good I liked making that impression.”

Two of Bowen’s most unique tattoos feature his mum and grandmother both giving the middle finger – and the bar owner suggested his mother had been positive about his transformation.

“I don’t care what other people think about the way I look, I like the way I look, my mum thinks I’m handsome, so I just decided I should go for it and look exactly how I want to look,” he stressed.
