Kim Kardashian’s staffers like to keep it neutral.
The “Kardashians” star 42, might be known for her monochromatic style, but it turns out that the Skims founder’s fashion sense extends to her employees, too.
Sitting down with Angie Martinez on her “IRL” podcast yesterday, Kardashian said that keeping things simple helps her juggle the chaos of her life — including co-parenting with Kanye West — and that means choosing a calm color scheme.
After Martinez commented at the “peaceful” nature of the reality star’s minimalistic office, the Skims and Skkn by Kim founder said, “when I post pictures of my house, they’re either like, ‘wow, this is so minimal and crazy’ or they get it. But I love it.”
“The people who work here are all color coordinated,” Martinez noted. “Is that intentional?”
“Absolutely,” Kardashian said. “I have uniforms.”
When Martinez laughed, saying “stop!” the beauty and fashion entrepreneur explained, “It’s not like hey, this is like, your uniform. It’s just color palettes.”
Saying she has “a handbook,” Kardashian elaborated that her employees are allowed to wear “grays, heather gray, black, navy, white, cream, khaki … I mean, we can stick with all neutrals. Not a lot of color blocking.”
Explaining the thought process behind the dress code, the mom of four — whose minimalistic house was compared by social media users to a “psych ward” — told Martinez it came down to keeping the same feel both at home and work.
“My house is so zen, so I asked how everyone felt about it and everyone actually said ‘that would make our life so easy.’ And once everyone was on board and thought it would be easier for them, I was like yes, let’s do this.”
Speaking out about the designer’s controversial ad campaign featuring toddlers holding BDSM-inspired teddy bears, Kardashian revealed to Martinez that she felt pressure to make a statement when she didn’t have all of the information yet.
“With the Balenciaga thing… everyone was like, ‘Why aren’t you speaking out? Why aren’t you speaking out?’” Kardashian told the podcast host. “And I’m like, ‘Wait. I’m not in this campaign. I don’t know what’s happening. Let me take a minute to like, research this.’”
While she might be branching out to other designers, we don’t expect Kardashian’s love of neutrals to go away anytime soon.
