My ex forced me to delete photos of me and guy friends off Instagram

My ex took complete control of my social media and made me think I was crazy when I questioned him about it: Here are the red flags I missed

  • Amy Dickinson, 30, had a toxic ex who controlled her social media presence
  • The Brisbane woman revealed the man regularly forced her to delete photos

A woman has revealed all the social media photos her ‘abusive’ and ‘controlling’ ex-boyfriend made her delete.

Amy Dickinson, from Brisbane, was recently going through her camera roll and stumbled across a folder of ‘deleted’ Instagram photos.

The 30-year-old was immediately reminded of Jonah Hill’s recent controversy where Sarah Brady accused him of emotional abuse, and shared that her ex-partner was similarly destructive.

Amy shared that her ex forced her to delete several photos of herself and male colleagues from her social media accounts, stating that seeing her in bikinis and with other men was ‘triggering’ for him.

He accepted no compromise nor criticism on the matter, and had to have ‘complete control’ of Amy’s online presence.

The Brisbane woman shared a video of all the deleted photos, and also revealed why her ex made her remove each photo from Instagram.

‘In light of the recent Jonah Hill allegations, I’ve been going through all the photos my ex made me delete,’ she said in the short clip.

The first photo was of Amy on holiday in Greece; she was standing on a yacht in a black one-piece.

‘He forced me to remove this from my page because there was a tiny shadow at the bottom on my swimsuit, and it meant that my outfit was completely see-through, when it wasn’t,’ she said.

Amy also shared that her ex called her ‘crazy’ for not being able to see what was wrong with the photo.

Amy labelled the next photo her ex made her delete – a snap of Amy posing on a flamingo pool floatie – as her ‘greatest social media loss’

Amy’s ex made her delete a photo with a gay colleague because it made him uncomfortable

The second photo saw Amy posing with a male co-worker.

‘He told me I had to delete it because I was with a guy, but [my colleague] is gay.’

Amy labelled the next photo – posing on a flamingo pool floatie – as her ‘greatest social media loss’.

‘Because of the emotional abuse I was suffering, I wasn’t eating a lot at that time, and it was unhealthy and messed up – but I had a really toned stomach,’ she said.

‘I flat out wasn’t allowed to post bikini photos,’ she admitted, showcasing several other swimwear shots that her ex had ‘banned’.

‘There was too much showing, and he told me I looked too sultry in another photo,’ she said. ‘Too much cleavage!’

Amy also previously shared a beach photo that zoomed into her waist and bottom, but her ex made her take it down.

Another ‘surprising’ issue turned out to be an image of Amy brushing her teeth because he thought the caption was ‘too suggestive’.

The Aussie woman attempted to compromise by deleting the caption, but her ex claimed the post was ‘too triggering’ for him and made her remove it altogether.

Signs I missed:

1 – My ex made me delete photos of men, even gay colleagues, from Instagram as he found them triggering

2 – He made me delete swimsuit pictures from before we dated

3 – He went on to have complete control of my accounts

4 – I lost weight when I was with him as I was stressed all the time

5 – He called me crazy whenever I questioned why something triggered him

Many women shared that she had similar experiences with toxic men.

‘I went through the same thing,’ one said. ‘Why are men so insecure?’

‘He was a jealous loser,’ another wrote. ‘I hate men like him.’

While others shared different routes they took when partners criticised their posts.

‘My husband kept making comments about my ‘feel good pics’ so I just deleted him off my Instagram instead,’ a woman said.

‘My guy wanted me to delete some photos off my IG, so I blocked him and said problem solved!’ a second wrote.
