A new optical illusion claims it will reveal if you are your own worst critic – depending on what you see first.

The picture, shared on TikTok by creator Mia Yilin, is called ‘the first thing you see in this picture says a lot about your personality’.

Mia, who  more than 457,000 followers revealed the graphic blue and yellow image depicts a man painting a wall while standing beneath a lamppost.

‘If you first saw the man painting the wall, then challenges don’t scare you they motivate you to push harder,’ she explained. 

‘However you tend to bottle up your emotions and struggle with asking for help from others as well as showing weakness.’

She then explained what it could mean if the lamppost was the first thing you noticed.

‘If you first saw the streetlight then you’re a bit of a clean freak. 

‘You can deal with messiness but dirtiness is a hard no.

‘You strive for order and efficiency and love to make lists and plan ahead.

‘Often you are your own worst critic so it’s important to give yourself a break sometimes and just enjoy life.’ 

The vast majority of viewers seemed to spot the lamppost immediately, with one commenting: ‘I saw the streetlight first’, while others said: ‘I’m the street light person’ and simply: ‘streetlight’.

Meanwhile, one individual resonated with Mia’s analysis, writing: ‘It does shock me how I can relate to these things.’

Three further people noticed the man and the lamppost simultaneously.

According to the content creator, the latest illusion can tell you what you wish for the most – or if the next year will be filled with blessings.

The content creator revealed what it meant if you saw the sky first. 

She said: ‘If you first saw the sky, then your greatest strength is your self-control. 

‘After setting a goal, you are determined to achieve it and won’t rest until you do.’ 

Mia also noted that those who saw the sky first don’t want to be drowning in riches. 

‘What you wish for isn’t wealth and riches, but rather peace and happiness with those you love,’ she explained. 

Then, Mia shared what it meant if you saw the bird. 

‘If you first saw the bird then this past year has been the hardest and most stressful one for you yet. 

‘The fast pace of your everyday life makes you feel exhausted, but if you can just hold on a little longer wonderful things are waiting for you on the other side,’ the content creator explained.
